Why LiFePO4 Lithium is Replacing Tubular Lead-Acid Batteries in Nigeria
Share Publication:

For over a decade, Nigerian households and commercial facilities relied heavily on lead-acid tubular batteries for inverter backup. However, frequent deep discharges during protracted national grid blackouts, high ambient temperatures exceeding 35°C, and water maintenance requirements frequently reduced tubular battery lifespans to under 18 months.

1. 6,000+ Cycles vs 1,200 Cycles

Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) chemistry delivers over 6,000 continuous charge-discharge cycles at 80% Depth of Discharge (DoD), translating to over 12–15 years of daily operational service without noticeable degradation.

2. 95% Usable Energy Capacity

Unlike lead-acid units which suffer severe sulfation if discharged beyond 50%, a 10.24kWh Felicity or Deye LiFePO4 battery pack safely delivers 9.5kWh of usable real-world energy.
